La Macarena Pupuseria & Latin Cafe
- La Macarena Pupuseria & Latin Cafe is a beloved eatery and the first Pupuseria on the East Bank offering El Salvadorian dishes. Founded by Isabel Ochoa-Galvez, who learned her recipes through watching her mother, Eva, cook, it has been run by Manny since 2008, who created every detail of its aesthetic
- Hana Japanese Restaurant is an iconic local eatery serving the neighborhood for over thirty years. Their menu features a wide selection of classic Japanese dishes, from sushi to sashimi, and traditional Japanese cooking with gourmet ingredients. The restaurant also offers a range of unique Japanese wines, making it the perfect spot for a meal.
- Maple Street Cafe is a fine dining restaurant in the heart of Maple Street. The menu has an Italian flair and a flavor all its own.

Not all are within walking distance, but all are excellent and pretty close.
Brigtsen’s Restaurant – walking distance and excellent
- Brigtsen’s Restaurant is a Riverbend gem owned by Frank Brigtsen and his wife, Marna. Established in 1986, this renowned dining spot is the result of its founders’ passion and hard work. Frank began his culinary career in 1973, apprenticing at Commander’s Palace under Chef Paul Prudhomme. He became the first Night Chef at K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen when it opened dinner service, eventually becoming its Executive Chef.
- Located in a picturesque garden setting of an Uptown New Orleans neighborhood, Gautreau’s offers customers a combination of sophistication and warmth. The inventive yet homely menu further entices guests to dine with them for an unforgettable evening experience.
- There are dishes on Clancy’s menu that require explanation. “Pannée veal Annunciation,” for instance, is a brazen (and delicious) schnitzel-fettuccine Alfredo merger. “Lamb chops Webster”: horseradish compound butter melting over three rosy chops, with sides, including a potato pancake. Other dishes are exactly what the menu says they are: “oyster and artichoke gratin,” or, my favorite, “veal chop with roast tomatoes and a fresh herb demi-glace.” Paraphrased from Brett Anderson, nola.com

- GW Fins specializes in the freshest fish and seafood from the Gulf of Mexico. Executive Chef Michael Nelson goes to great lengths to ensure that every dish features only the most delicious ingredients. He often works with local spearfishing divers to source their daily catch for the nightly menu. Each type of fish offers its own unique flavor profile, expertly presented with creative culinary techniques.
- Ralph’s on The Park is an elegant farm-to-table destination that offers some of the most unique dishes in the area. “Overlooking the lush greens and towering oaks of City Park.” Boasting a menu with global influences, every item is made with locally sourced seafood, meats, and vegetables that are sure to tantalize every diner’s taste buds.
- Commanders Palace is a New Orleans landmark that has been around since 1893. It has become a culinary legend, famous for its award-winning quality food and vibrant atmosphere. The restaurant offers an array of Haute Creole cuisine, from the traditional to the unique, with each dish prepared using locally sourced ingredients. The charming decor and creative dishes make it a much sought-after destination for locals and tourists alike. Commander’s Palace has won seven James Beard Foundation Awards and is a beloved eatery in the city.
